    Reliant Medical Group is seeking a Lab services Supervisor to join our exciting and innovative organization!

     

    Position: 40 hours per week

    Hours: Monday through Friday 9:00AM-5:00PM 

    Rotating Weekends, Rotating Holidays 

     

     

    Supervises assigned employees and activities for the efficient administration of phlebotomy activities.  Coordinates phlebotomy activities in assigned area.  Provides direct phlebotomy care as required.

    Responsibilities

    Supervises assigned personnel including performance evaluations, scheduling, orientation, and training.  Makes recommendations on employee hire, transfers, promotions, salary changes, discipline, terminations, and other similar actions.

     

    Resolves grievances and other personnel problems within position responsibilities. Provides input based on observations related to counseling and disciplinary issues.  Implements corrective actions plans as required.

     

    May process payroll for assigned staff following standard procedures.

     

    Maybe responsible for Leader Standard Work.

     

    Plans, implements and evaluates the phlebotomy staffing needs on a daily basis to adequately support patient care in a given area; assigns phlebotomy staff based upon patient acuity, practice volume, staff qualifications and standard policy.

     

    Assist Manager or others in responding to patient concerns as needed. Monitors and addresses patient complaints within position responsibility. Ensures the highest level of patient satisfaction. Works with physicians and others to address and prevent problems

     

    Provides effective direction, guidance, and leadership over the phlebotomy staff for effective teamwork and motivation, and fosters the effective integration of efforts with clinic-wide initiatives.

     

    Participates in the development and recommendation of the operating and capital budgets for the areas managed.  Manages activities to ensure financial goals met.  Monitors expenditures for compliance to approved budget.  Resolves discrepancies.

     

    Coordinates the assignment of tasks and helps resolve technical and operational problems.  Evaluates the impact of solutions to ensure goals are achieved.

     

    Assist in developing policies and programs within the department; acts as a positive role model for staff.

     

    Creates an environment that nurtures empowerment of phlebotomy staff members; encourages the development of self-directed work teams; proactively pursue and encourage continuous quality management and innovation.

     

    Documents and maintains Quality Control records for State and CLIA certificates following established procedures.

    Ensures that assigned staff are competency tested for each protocol as required or directed.  Monitors assigned staff proficiency and competency requirements.  Ensures compliance and documents requirements are met as required.

     

    Ensures that all interns are on-boarded in accordance with standard procedures. Assigns interns to clinical sites and oversees student program. Serves as mentor and primary trainer for all new hires.

     

    Performs a variety of duties in phlebotomy, electrocardiography, research protocols, waived and moderately complex testing, and therapeutic phlebotomy.

     

    Prepares all documentation required by DPH and CLIA. Maintains records and staff technical files in conjunction with Manager or others.

     

    Trains assigned staff following established policies and protocols.  Maintains staff training records.

     

    Partners with reference laboratories to ensure that all specimen collection and transport requirements are met by assigned staff at assigned sites.

     

    Prepares a variety of reports and maintains records as required or directed

     

    Performs instrument maintenance.  Coordinates service calls as needed.

     

    Participates in laboratory inspections and serves as a resource for inspector or other.  Elevates inspection concerns or deficiencies to manager.

     

    Trains staff in all electronic medical record functions related to lab order entry, label generation, release of tests from open orders, and resulting of lab results into appropriate fields for permanent record.

     

    Responsible for all CLIA and Massachusetts Clinical Laboratory Program related requirements for  the organization’s clinical stations in addition to laboratory stations, including clinical staff training, administering and monitoring proficiency program, maintaining Quality Control documentation, etc.  Attends inspections of nursing/clinical stations and responds to deficiencies as required.  Works with assigned Medical Director for each of the organization’s CLIA licenses held to ensure compliance with all requirements and regulations for clinical staff performed laboratory testing.

     

    Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies such as DPH, etc.  Develops and maintains procedures necessary to meet regulatory requirement.

     

    Ensures that assigned area comply with clinic established policies, quality assurance programs, safety, and infection control policies and procedures.

     

    Ensures adequate equipment and supplies for assigned area.

     

    Ensures compliance to all health and safety regulations and requirements.

     

    Performs similar or related duties as required or directed.

     

    Regular, reliable and predicable attendance is required.

    Qualifications

    High school diploma and additional specialized courses.  Graduate of an approved phlebotomy course and internship, current national certification.  CPR certification required.  Three to five years phlebotomy, POCT, therapeutic phlebotomy, moderate complex testing, EKG and holter monitor experience.  Demonstrated leadership ability to include problem solving skills and the ability to communicate via written reports. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, team building and communication skills. Demonstrated knowledge of various software applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc. Knowledge of Federal, State and CLIA requirements.  Must have a valid driver’s license.
