Position: Full time 38.75 hours per week
Hours: Monday through Friday 9:00AM - 5:30PM
No Weekends, No Holidays
Provides ultrasound services to patients while adhering to department organizational policies, procedures and standards.
Routinely provides ultrasound exams to include portables and invasive procedures based on assignments and does so operating image equipment and other equipment/devices as necessary.
Demonstrates competency of ultrasound exams and follows established protocols for specified exams. Demonstrates excellent scanning techniques and thorough knowledge and awareness of normal and abnormal anatomy. Evaluates diagnostic images for technical and anatomical quality, seeks advice when necessary. Demonstrates consistency and proficiency in providing follow-up studies. Practices sterile technique as necessary. Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot equipment to determine if service engineering is needed. Must be competent to perform ultrasound exams on newborns meeting all dept. guidelines. Must be competent to perform ultrasound exams on children, adults, geriatric patients, meeting all dept. guidelines.
Complies with all state and/or federal regulations related to ultrasonography. Adheres to all guidelines as determined by the ACR with the goal of providing consistent, optimal ultrasound studies. Maintains current knowledge of new techniques and practices. Acquires and documents appropriate CEU’s in ultrasound as required for continuing education by the state and professional licensing boards.
Maintains professional and appropriate patient interaction skills. Assures care for physical and psychological needs of the patients during exams and procedures. Maintains professionalism and is respectful to all patients with regard to exam indication. Respects patient confidentiality regarding written and verbal information. Is able to educate the patients and family on the procedure to be performed. Initiates life support and activates a “code” when necessary.
Assures patient ID before beginning the exam/procedure.
Maintains good inter/intra departmental communications. Works as a team player with other employees and MD’s. Is positive, professional and respectful in all interactions.
Reports on supply shelf levels where appropriate. Demonstrates efficient and thorough follow-through on assigned duties, communicates feedback when necessary.
Complies with health and safety requirements and with regulatory agencies such as DPH, etc.
Complies with established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
Enhances professional growth and development through educational programs, seminars, etc.
Attends a variety of meetings, conferences, and seminars as required or directed.
Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.
Graduate of an AMA accredited ultrasound program.
Registered in ultrasound (ARDMS),.
Current CPR certification.
Meets CME requirements of ACR and MA state where applicable.
Minimum two years experience as an ultrasound tech.
ARRT preferable but not required.
