Reliant Medical Group is seeking a Patient Service Specialist (Medical Receptionist) to join our exciting organization on a New project Initiative!

 

This will require  a commitment until May 2019 to fill this temporary Position on our Project Team.   Excellent Wage Incentive with benefits

 Project Position  will require back filling staff as new site locations are built.  Floating will be on a progressive cycle to:  Auburn,  Leominster and Worcester, until all new sites are completed.

 

Float Position: Requires Travel

 

Perdiem: As needed

Monday-Friday

8:00 to 4:30 or 8:30 to 5:00

 

  This person would coordinate the provision of multiple services to patients performing a full range of administrative support services for specific assigned site .  Duties will include registration and check in, verification of insurances and collection of co-payments, as required.  As well as scheduling of patients for future appointments, medical procedures, tests,  and any associated ancillary services .   

On line referral verification as well as data input.    Our Patient Service Specialists require the highest level of patient/customer service satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients as they arrive to verify  patient demographics, re-verifies and authorizes patient insurance coverage and eligibility, collection of co pays as required.  Posting payments to our computerized Electronic Medical Record .  Generates encounters for visit.  Daily cash/check/ credit card deposit reconciliation . May require faxing and photocopying along with other clerical administrative duties.
  • Responsible to complete the patient services by booking future office appointments, specialty appointments, procedures or ancillary testing as required.   
  • Enters new referrals or ensures that existing referral numbers are linked in the system to ensure managed care requirements.
  • Works collaboratively with primary care practices, patients and specialty practices to process outgoing referrals prior to scheduled visits. Follows up with practices that do not issue a referral or obtain referral on a timely basis.
  • Interfaces with staff, providers and patients regarding denied referrals. Documents information and assists with alternate plan of care, if needed.
  • Receives and addresses patient-care related telephone calls.  Completes Telephone Message Documentation into Electronic Medical Record and directs to appropriate care team  pools.
  • Will ensure messages are monitored and completed for follow through.
  • May require taking basic  medication information requests via phone and direct to clinical team
  •  Provides routine information on procedures to patients following standard policies.
  • Identifies problem related priorities, and responds to emergency needs by contacting/interrupting physician/provider within guidelines.
  • Resolves patient’s questions regarding office schedules,  billing concerns, or appointment information requirements.
  •  Refers matters of concern to appropriate person within department/site. 
  • May provide clerical assistance to care team which would include prepping charts for upcoming patient appointments using the Electronic Medical Record.  Ensures visit efficiency for provider and staff by locating test results, reminding patients of appointments, including appropriate forms completed that may be required. 
  • Provides patient education regarding managed care plans and referral process. Answers patients’ referral questions, concerns, etc. Provides patient with available options.   
  • Completes and maintains patient schedules. Schedules and coordinates patient visits, medical procedures for both inpatients and outpatients. Communicates with patients regarding all information related to scheduled appointments.
  • Notifies providers, patients and others of changes such as new scheduling, re-scheduling, no-show, emergency appointments and add-ons.
  • Maintains recall and reschedule work lists and communicates with patients as appropriate.
  • May inform clinical staff or others of laboratory and diagnostic study results; collects and mails test results.
  • May escort patient to examination rooms and chaperones patients as required.
  • Provides guidance to departmental personnel in medical office on administrative policies and procedures.
  • Complies with health and safety requirements and with regulatory agencies such as DPH, etc.
  • Complies with established organizational or departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through educational programs, seminars, etc.
  • Attends a variety of meetings, conferences, and seminars as required or directed.
  • Regular, reliable and predictable attendance is required.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required
  • Additional specialized medical secretarial/medical office training preferred
  • Superior customer service skills including the ability to multi-task and resolve patient concerns in a timely manner
  • Ability to think critically and exercise sound judgment
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with various software applications such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.
