Assists in coordinating training and direct the store workflow for all Pharmacy Lead Technicians, Technicians, Pharmacy Support Staff and others. Assists the Technician Manager in training and development of selected professional, operational, and business related functions at the department and store levels in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for store visits in the support of staff and maintaining a professional work environment dedicated to providing superior customer service, safety and cost containment. Supports the Pharmacy Administration in all financial, operational and clinical initiatives and projects.
Assists in managing and coordinating activities of all Department Lead Technicians and Technicians in assisting the Pharmacists in the daily process of providing optimal pharmaceutical services to patients.
Works with the Technician Manager or others in assisting the Pharmacist management team to assure cost efficiencies, compliance and quality improvement in the technical aspects of Pharmacy Practice across all locations of the Department of Pharmacy.
Ensures customer safety, customer satisfaction and cost containment.
In conjunction with the Technical Manager, coordinates all duties that pertain to the operational workflow, training and compliance of all Department personnel.
Assists with the planning and implementation of department initiatives as they relate to all Pharmacy Department functions.
Coordinates and provides oversight of the duties, responsibilities and assignments of the Pharmacy Lead Technicians and Pharmacy Technicians.
Interacts effectively and professionally with all departments at Reliant Medical Group, including the IT Department, Accounting Department, Finance Department and Legal/Compliance.
Interacts effectively and professionally with all customers, prescribers and vendors of the Pharmacy Department.
Serves as resource for Lead Technicians, Technician and store operations related issues that may arise on a day-to-day basis in the pharmacy stores.
Serves as a resource for designated Pharmacy Software, IVR and POS platforms. Performs routine system maintenance and troubleshooting and inputs insurance groups, customer and physician demographics and pricing formulas, compounds and co-payment schedules into the system as needed.
Works closely with Department and Organizational departments that use EPIC, e-prescribing, e-charting or other electronic prescriber formats or platforms.
Provides store support for operational, procurement, inventory and banking related activities.
Performs weekly store visits reviewing workflow, technology performance, compliance and quality analysis. Provides support of the store Pharmacy Manager and Technicians and act as a liaison reporting trends and issues back to the Pharmacy Administration.
Assists in the resolution of system related materials management issues such as, inventory discrepancies, financial, auditing or compliance matters by identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
Participates in employee merit review process. Delivers required feedback in a timely fashion.
Assists Technician Manager in developing processes for retraining or inservices for new and existing Pharmacy staff members.
Participates in update meetings, information sessions and training initiatives through conference calls or in-person meetings for Lead Technicians and other appropriate staff members. Meetings will be conducted both by conference call and in-person meetings.
Provides store coverage at other locations as needed required or directed based on operational evaluations by the Technician Manager, Pharmacy Director or Pharmacy Business Manager.
Works at different sites and handles multiple tasks.
Performs duties of all other pharmacy technician levels as required at the store.
Greets patients or others at the front counter or over the telephone to ensure prompt service.
Performs computer entry of prescription information including but not limited to: patient search, prescriber search, allergy entry, drug selection, prescription interpretation & entry, insurance billing and basic problem resolution.
Accurately reviews and processes e-prescriptions, faxed prescriptions, IVR prescription requests per Pharmacy Department guidelines.
Accepts customer, insurance and prescription information required to process new and refill prescriptions, including refill authorization from doctor offices where permitted by state law.
Properly places prescriptions into the store workflow recognizing the proper wait time mandates.
Retrieves the appropriate medication from inventory where permitted by state law.
Creates prescription labels and put them on prescription containers where permitted by state law.
Places medication into prescription containers where permitted by state law.
Completes paperwork related to filling prescriptions and input customer and prescription data into the computer system where permitted by law.
Communicates any issues which may delay dispensing the prescription to the customer. Works directly with a Pharmacist to coordinate the resolution for the customer.
Assists in maintaining appropriate inventory levels. Is dedicated to cost-containment and maximizing store profitability without sacrificing customer safety or satisfaction.
Responsible for store inventory to be routinely reviewed to safeguard against out of date stock.
Maintains cold–chain custody and proper temperature control of all store inventory.
Follows all downtime and emergency processes per departmental policies.
Assists pharmacy administration in the completion of special projects.
Assists with projects, vendor initiatives and other tasks at the pharmacy sites as required.
Assists with maintaining the Pharmacy department by keeping it clean, organized and uncluttered.
Assists in record retention, record retrieval and all audit or quality assurance processes.
Assists in inventory management processes including: order review, inventory returns, restocking shelves, and physical inventory preparation.
Maintains proper cash handling protocols at all times. Follows Point-of-Sale (POS) guidelines and deposit reconciliation processes as required.
Delivers daily store deposit to designated safe as outlined in store specific protocol as required or directed.
Follows all asset protection and personal safety guidelines as outlined in the department Policy and Procedures.
Treats each customer with dignity and respect and is dedicated to maximum customer satisfaction. It is expected that the Technician Specialist will assist with store workflow if required during a store visit.
Conforms to all record keeping responsibilities of the department and organization.
Follows all professional and departmental guidelines for PHI and HIPPA compliance.
Reports any departmental, organizational, state or federal non-compliance issues to their immediate department supervisor immediately.
Contributes to the planning and achievement of departmental objectives and goals. Facilitates the development and implementation of new services, projects and technologies.
Contributes to the evaluation and continuous improvement of customer services, vendor relations, as well as department policies, and procedures.
Complies with health and safety requirements and with regulatory agencies such as DPH, etc.
Complies with established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
Enhances professional growth and development through educational programs, seminars, etc.
Attends a variety of meetings, conferences, and seminars as required or directed.
Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.
Regular, reliable and predicable attendance is required.
Minimum of a High School diploma. Minimum of 18 years of age. Current Massachusetts Technician registration and National Technician Certification (CPhT) required. One (1) to three (3) years retail Pharmacy Technician supervision experience required. Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of various software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. Demonstrated knowledge with Pharmacy management software and operational platforms required. Maintains current MA Technician registration and National Technician certification (CPht) including required Continuing Education (CEU) requirements. Travel to multiple store locations daily and weekly is required.
