Part Time: 31 hours
Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30AM - 5:00PM
Performs non-invasive diagnostic testing procedures assessing the pacemaker/ICD computer data base and accurately inputs clinical information in electronic medical record. Sets up patients for trans telephonic pacer checks. Interprets trans telephonic EKG checks and schedules appropriate follow up and related duties.
Creates patient files for new pacemaker and ICD patient to be followed in the clinic and appropriate filing patient visit results in each file.
Accesses the pacemaker and ICD data base and accurately inputs patient visit information into the data base.
Sets up new patients with the Worcester Medical Center Non-Invasive Cardiology Department for transtelephonic pacemaker checks.
Provides instructions to patients and their family related to the use of trans telephonic equipment.
Interprets trans telephonic EKG checks when necessary and schedules appropriate follow up visit.
Sets up the patient for pacemaker and ICD clinic visits. Connects patient to the appropriate programmer and performing initial interrogation.
Performs threshold testing of pacemakers and ICDs under the direct supervision of a Cardiologist, nurse or others.
Recognizes and responds appropriately to cardiac arrhythmias.
Identifies pacemaker malfunctions such as under sensing, over sensing, loss of capture and elective replacement indicators.
Initials interpretation of tachycardia episodes under supervision of physician and changes parameters as prescribed by physician.
Troubleshoots ICD under the supervision of a physician, following standard procedure.
Operates electrocardiograph instruments. Performs special tests as directed such as Holter monitor applications through scanning, etc. Maintains equipment and records.
Complies with health and safety requirements and with regulatory agencies such as DPH, etc.
Complies with established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
Enhances professional growth and development through educational programs, seminars, etc.
Attends a variety of meetings, conferences, and seminars as required or directed.
Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.
Regular, reliable and predicable attendance is required.
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum five years experience with EKGs. One to two years experience in Non-Invasive Cardiology. Ability to recognize cardiac arrhythmias. Must complete internal training with assigned staff. Knowledge of a variety of software products such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
