Reliant Medical Group is seeking a Health Information Coordinator I to join our exciting and innovative team!


Position: Full time 38.75 hours per week 

This is a one year temp assignment

Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm Monday through Friday 


Performs the duties to meet the needs of the Health Information Management Department with a high degree of accuracy.  Provides a variety of administrative and clerical support functions for the organization, such as, scanning pre-identified documents, retrieval of information from area hospitals, identifying deceased patients, printing and mailing result letters to patients, maintenance and retrieval of historic paper records. 


Facilitates the transfer of paper patient charts to electronic format. Prepares documents appropriately for scanning and investigates and identifies duplicate reports prior to scanning. Indexes a variety of documents once sorted to appropriate document type, forwards a scan to an appropriate Epic in-basket with direction, identifies appropriate specialty for each document, identifies correct patient and date of service and identifies and researches incomplete reports.


Prints and mail result letters to patients as a support to clinical areas.


Acts as a liaison between clinic business departments and off site record storage vendor, coordinating the collection of all boxes to be picked up from departments, confirming proper set up of boxes, entering boxes into vendor system, tracking and managing boxes stored at off-site record storage location and retrieving boxes from storage at request of departments.


Performs record purge and destruction functions following standard procedures.


Access documents from area hospitals or paper medical record chart for clinical areas.


Tracks and stores documentation that is stored separately from the medical record (ex. fetal monitor strips, cardiology discs, employee blood borne pathogen exposure, etc.) so available for legal / retention purposes if necessary.


Locates, secures and maintains a log for patient charts that have been legally sequestered.


Tracks and prioritizes all incoming records to ensure timely processing.


Maintains equipment as required.


Prioritizes workload based on need for patient care


Meets or exceeds established minimum productivity and accuracy level.


Performs organizational and support tasks for other areas of HIM department as necessary.


Maintains the confidentiality of all patient information.


Complies with health and safety requirements and with regulatory agencies..


Complies with established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.


Attends a variety of meetings, conferences, and seminars as required or directed.


Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.


Regular, reliable and predictable attendance is required.


High school education or equivalent. Up to one year relevant experience preferred.  Excellent customer service and communication skills. Good organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to perform all physical activities required for the filing and retrieval of medical records and documents as well as purge projects. Knowledge of various software applications such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, etc.
