Reliant Medical Group is seeking a Medical Assistant II (MA II) to join our excited and innovative organization!

 

Full Time: 38.75

Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30AM - 5:00PM

 

  Performs a variety of duties involving patient care while adhering to the standards of the practice.  Provides care to  adult and geriatric patients.  Assists in the examination and treatment of patients by taking and recording vital signs such as blood pressures, temperatures, height, weight, etc.  Assists physician and others with clinical/diagnostic procedures such as urine cultures, pregnancy tests, throat cultures, etc.  Prepares treatment rooms.  Performs a variety of clerical functions to support office functions.   Performs related duties to facilitate the efficient utilization of computer-based information.  Performs a variety of clerical functions to support various areas such as chronic disease management and other related duties.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for quality of patient care she/he provides to patients while adhering to the standards of practice
  • Opens patient areas, prepares patient schedules and patient medical records following standard procedures
  • Establishes reason for patient visit and prepares patient accordingly.  Provides direct and indirect care following standard procedure while identifying and recording physical findings.  Takes patient blood pressure, height, weight, pulse, temperature and/or respiration and complete history information during patient visit
  • Prepares and assists nurses, providers and others with office procedures within specific competency such as Thoracentesis, Laryngoscopes and Pulmonary Function Testing
  • Collects specimens and transports them to laboratory following standard procedure
  • Assists with patient teaching as directed by registered nurse or physician of areas of specific competency, such as Overnight Pulse Oximetry
  • Identifies and reports emergency situations to nursing and providers and assists in emergency as competency will allow
  • Participates in staff meetings, gives input and feedback during meetings  
  • Maintains open communication with all members of the healthcare team  
  • Assists in the organization of the clinical unit including stocking of exam rooms
  • Utilizes patient care equipment appropriately and safely.  Incorporates the proper requirements in operating department specific equipment to provide safe patient care
  • Identifies and corrects abnormal conditions within scope of responsibility under the supervision of nurse or provider
  • Provides care to adult and geriatric patients
  • Works as a member of the clinical team to provide quality, timely service to patients
  • Participates in orientation and staff development activities as requested
  • Works with the MA team, providers and practice manager to continually improve patient flow within the department
  • May perform a variety of medical assistant duties relevant to specific assigned specialty as described in the specialty medical assistant skills list
  • Complies with health and safety requirements and with regulatory agencies such as DPH, etc
  • Complies with established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives
  • Enhances professional growth and development through educational programs, seminars, etc
  • Attends a variety of meetings, conferences, and seminars as required or directed
  • Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed
  • Regular, reliable and predicable attendance is required

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and up to and including six (6) months experience
  • Successful completion of medical assistant program.  Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS-CPR) or completed within 90 days of date of hire for positions in direct patient care areas
  • Knowledge of office and laboratory procedures
  • Knowledge of a variety of software applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, etc
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
